To achieve the above, we used the DataTrim Account Organizer App from the AppExchange to build, maintain and visualise the account hierarchies.
Combining the DataTrim app with Declarative Lookup Rollup Summaries (DLRS) an open source app available from the salesforce DLRS community site to create the roll-ups between parent and child accounts (which the standard salesforce formula roll-up doesn’t support).
Once the roll-up fields are implemented and the hierarchies are established, you can also use the aggregated values in report and dashboards, making your helicopter view even more detailed.

You can use the same approach to aggregate:

  1. Account Revenue
  2. Value of open opportunities
  3. Number of open opportunities
  4. Number of open cases
  5. Campaign information
  6. Case assesments
  7. Etc.

Roll-up to Ultimate Parent – setup and hierarchy building

The DataTrim Account Organizer, is available from only $299/Org/year, and the DLRS is FREE.

OBS: To aggregate currency values, the values being aggregated must be same currency (USD, EUR, GBP etc.). If you work with multi-currency opportunities/revenue, you might want to setup a conversion rate at the opportunity level and calculate the opportunity amount into one corporate currency.
